Durk Tyson became the Director of Gas Systems in 2026. Durk joined GUC as a Gas Systems Engineer in 2014 and was promoted to Assistant Director of Gas Systems in 2022. He has more than 35 years of engineering experience and worked as a principle for a local consulting firm prior to joining GUC.
Durk is a double graduate of North Carolina State University with B.S. in Civil Engineering and Master of Engineering degrees and is a registered Professional Engineer. He is an active member of the American Public Gas Association, Carolinas Public Gas Association and Professional Engineers of North Carolina. He serves on the Board of Directors for NC811 and the Carolinas Natural Gas Coalition and has previously served on the APGA Board of Directors, East Carolina University’s Planning Program Advisory Board, and the Greenville Environmental Advisory Board.
