Our Gas Department is conducting an annual inspection of our natural gas pipelines. To maintain the safety of our pipelines, all portions of the gas system must be inspected in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines to ensure compliance, system operation, and public safety. ☑️ Work has started and will take place between now and July. People living along or near gas pipelines may notice a contractor from Southern Cross Utilities Inspection Services conducting the inspection for GUC. Their work involves walking around roads, fields, and yards, including all gas meters. Each contractor will have identification and will NOT need access to any homes, businesses, or offices, nor will they ask for any money or personal information. ☑️ For questions about this program, please call our Gas Department at 252-551-1587 (opens in a new window)

UPDATE 4:48 PM - We currently have 141 customers who remain without power. These outages are associated with downed poles and will take longer. Thank you all for your patience as our crews work as quickly and safely as they can. ALERT 1:56 PM - Please be aware that GUC crews are handling multiple outages due to high winds and downed trees ahead of the storm.
