
GUC has earned five Public Power Awards of Excellence from ElectriCities of North Carolina. This is the 20th year in a row that GUC was a recipient of a Public Power of Excellence award.
“These awards are a great reflection of the commitment of our employees,” said General Manager / CEO Tony Cannon, “but also a recognition of the GUC Board of Commissioners’ forward thinking and dedication to serving our customers and our community.”
GUC received a Public Power Award of Excellence in the areas of:
Future-Focused: Recognizing cities, towns, and public power entities with a mindset that sets the future as a priority;
Strengthen Public Power: Recognizing public power entities that build public and political support for public power;
Provide Superior Power: Highlighting communities that deliver reliable, affordable, and sustainable electric power;
Customer-Centered Innovation: Celebrating public power entities that innovate and invest Innovating and investing to better serve customers and communities; and
People: Recognizing cities and town that leveraging employees as the greatest asset the utility possesses.
“Public power is defined by an unwavering dedication to community and customers,” said ElectriCities CEO Roy Jones. “GUC’s commitment to these areas is commendable and an example we can all learn from.”
ElectriCities is an organization that represents cities, towns, and universities that own their electric distribution systems. Greenville Utilities is a member of ElectriCities, along with more than 90 other members in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.
