The best time to get prepared for a storm is before it hits.  Our Emergency Storm Plan is ready to be activated at a moment’s notice.  During storms, this site will be updated to keep you informed. 

Here are some links and information to help you get ready while the weather is calm.

  • GUC’s 24-hour weather radar is there to help you keep an eye on approaching storms.  You can view it on Cable Channel 64.

  • NCReady.gov has information on preparing for a variety of disasters.

  • Prepare an emergency kit that contains the following:

      • Bottled water
      • Canned food
      • Prescription medicines
      • Flashlight
      • Radio
      • Batteries
      • Can opener
      • First-aid kit
      • Baby food
      • Diapers
      • Eating utensils
