Board of Commisioners Officers Elected

Lester Z. Brown, J. Freeman Paylor and Julie Carlson were recently elected officers of the Greenville Utilities Board of Commissioners.

Mr. Brown, Owner of Hooker and Buchanan, Inc. Insurance, was elected Chair. He served as Vice-Chair in 2008-09 and has been a Board member since 2004.  

Mr. Paylor was elected Vice-Chair and previously served as Secretary in 2008-09. He has served on the Board since 2006 and is Senior Vice President & Market President with TrustAtlantic Bank.  

Ms. Carlson was elected Secretary. She is an Account Manager with DuPont Soy Polymers, and has served on the Board since 2006. 

Greenville Utilities is owned and operated by the citizens of Greenville, and is governed by an eight-member Board of Commissioners responsible for approving rates, development plans, the annual budget, and setting policy that is carried out by the General Manager/CEO, Ron Elks. Board members serve 3-year terms, with a maximum of two terms. Commission meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Board Room of GUC’s Administrative Building located at 401 South Greene Street. Click here for more information.
