GUC Decreases Natural Gas Rates
For the second month in a row, Greenville Utilities has reduced natural gas rates for its customers. The new decrease became effective January 1. Depending upon the amount of gas used, residential customers will see a decrease of approximately 6%. A typical wintertime residential natural gas customer using 75 ccf would see a decrease of around $5.03 per month, amounting to a savings of approximately $28.09 this winter compared to last winter.
Wholesale natural gas prices have continued to decline due to increasing supply and decreasing demand. As a result, the market price of natural gas has decreased significantly, and GUC is passing those projected savings on to its customers.
Since August 2008, GUC has reduced customers’ gas rates 11 times, for a total reduction of about 48% or $58.82 per month based on average residential usage. In addition to the two recent gas rate decreases, GUC offers a host of tips and videos on how customers can further reduce their bills and home energy usage during the winter months.
