WWTP Receives Safety Award

The Greenville Utilities Wastewater Treatment Plant was named the recipient of the 2008 Burke Safety Award. This award is presented by the North Carolina American Water Works Association and the North Carolina Water Environment Association (NC AWWA-WEA) AWWA-WEA to wastewater treatment plants and their collection systems. It was established in 1982 in honor of George W. Burke, Jr. for his many years of service to the water pollution control field. The award is given every year to encourage an active and effective safety program in municipal and industrial water and wastewater facilities. Safety programs and safety records of the facility are the primary criteria for the awards.
