John Minges Appointed to GUC Board
John Minges has been appointed by City Council to the Greenville Utilities Board of Commissioners for a three-year term, beginning in July. He replaces Lester Brown who has served on the Board since 2004.
“I appreciate the opportunity that City Council has given me to serve the citizens of Greenville-Pitt County, and I look forward to learning all about Greenville Utilities,” said Commissioner Minges.
As a newly-appointed Commissioner, John Minges is carrying on the legacy of his uncle, Dr. Ray Minges, who served on the GUC Board from 1959-1981.
Commissioner Minges is President and Founding Partner of Minges & Associates, LLC, serving as a management consultant for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. A graduate of East Carolina University, Mr. Minges began his career in the family business, now known as Minges Bottling Group, Inc., a successful soft drink business which originated more than 87 years ago in Pitt County. He worked in all aspects of the company and served as Vice-President for several years.
A lifetime Pitt County resident, Mr. Minges has a long history of community service and currently serves on the Pitt Memorial Hospital Foundation Board as well as the Pitt County ABC Board. A former County Commissioner, he has also served as chair of Pitt-Greenville Crime Stoppers, president of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Pitt County, director of First Citizens Bank & Trust, director of Greenville Industries, president of the Greenville Community Shelter, director of the Greenville Pitt County Chamber of Commerce, director of the Pitt County Board of Health, and director of the Red Cross of Pitt County.
Commissioner Minges and his wife, Sarah, reside in Greenville.
