Can I bring/email/mail a paper application?
Yes, GUC accepts paper applications for all positions.

Can I submit a resume only?
No, GUC requires a completed application. If you choose to include your resume, you may send it through the mail/attach to the paper application or email it.

When completing the job duties section under “Employment Record” on the application, may I just say “see resume”?
No. You must include your employment history on the application. It is important that your application show all the relevant education and experience you possess. Applications will be rejected if incomplete.

Why should I submit a resume AND enter education and job history in the application?
GUC requires a completed application, but many hiring managers appreciate the opportunity to review resumes.

How often do job opportunities become available?
We post newly opened positions as they occur and are approved for posting by the General Manager/CEO.

If I am interested in more than one position, how do I apply?
If completing a paper application, note the positions desired in the space provided (if more than two, simply add the additional positions). If completing the online application, there is only space to select two positions. You would need to select two positions and submit the application; then, go back to the application and select two new positions and re-submit.

If I apply for the same position more than once, will you notice my application more?
No. All applications are screened by the Human Resources office before sending to the hiring manager and each recruitment process is handled independently of others. As long as you meet the minimum qualifications for the position applied for, your application is considered (regardless of how many times you apply).

Who do I call if I encounter difficulty completing the on-line application?
You may contact the Human Resources office at 252-551-1513 for assistance.

What do I do if I can’t remember my log-in information?
Call the Human Resources office at 252-551-1513 for assistance in obtaining your user name. Once you have the user name, you can then enter the website and click on the “forgot your password” link to obtain a new password. Our system will email you a new password. The system will allow only one email address for one user name. If your email changes, you will have to establish a new user name/password.

How will I know that you received my online application?
You will receive an email at the email address you provided when your application has been received.

Who should I contact to follow-up on my application?
Contact Human Resources at 252-551-1513 for the status of the recruitment process.

Who will see my application when I use the online process?
All information is on a secure web server. Only the Human Resources and IT department users authorized to review applications will have access.

How long does my application remain “active”?
Applications remain active or on file for one year. If you wish to be considered for a future vacancy, you need to contact Human Resources at 252-551-1513 and ask for your application to be activated for that particular position.

If I submit an application for a position, will my application be automatically considered for other positions for which I am qualified?
No. You must apply for each position in which you are interested in order to be considered.

If I missed the closing deadline for a vacant position, can I still apply?
Once a closing date has passed, no applications will be considered for that particular position. Please continue to visit our website and apply for new jobs as they become available. If you are having technical difficulties with the online application process, you can download a paper copy and submit it prior to deadline.

I saw an advertisement in the newspaper, but cannot find the position online. Is it still available?
All current positions can be found on here. If you saw an ad for a particular position, but it is no longer posted, we are no longer accepting applications for that position.

What can I expect after I have submitted my application?
After the closing date, the applications are reviewed by Human Resources. If minimum qualifications are met, the applications are forwarded to the hiring manager. The most competitive applicants are contacted for an interview. Applicants who are not selected for an interview are notified by mail once the hiring process is completed. Click here for more detail about the hiring process.

Does GUC require candidates for employment to submit to a drug screen and physical examination?
Yes, all candidates selected for positions (full-time, part-time, temporary, interns) are required to pass both a physical examination and drug/alcohol test.

How long does it take to schedule interviews after a position closes?
It usually takes two to four weeks (and in some instances, longer) for the hiring manager to submit an interview list. Human Resources will contact candidates by telephone to schedule the interview.

I have worked for GUC for a long time. As an internal applicant, why do I have to fill out another application?
Applications are required of each person applying for a job vacancy. It is likely that you may have acquired additional skills, experience, and education since you originally applied that should be considered. In addition, completing a new application ensures your qualifications and personal information will be documented and ensures accurate applicant tracking information for each position. If you are already working for GUC, you should download the “In-House” application from myguc.com (HR Department, documents and forms) or stop by HR and pick up a paper copy.
