Troy Perkins Honored as Wastewater Collection Operator of the Year

Troy Perkins, Superintendent of Water/Sewer Systems, was honored as the Wastewater Collection Operator of the Year at the North Carolina American Water Works Association and the North Carolina Water Environment Association (NC AWWA-WEA) Annual Conference this month. The NC AWWA-WEA Board of Education and Examiners gives this award to an individual who has contributed much to the successful operation and maintenance of sewage collection systems.

Troy has received Wastewater Collection Grade I, II, III and IV as well as Distribution Operators Grade A, B and C certifications. He currently serves on the Water Pollution control System Operators Certification Commission Board. And he has a BS degree in Political Science from East Carolina University.

He became Superintendent of Water/Sewer Systems in 2003. Troy began his career at GUC as a TV Inspection Crew Leader (now called I/I Inspection Crew Leader) in 1990 and was Water/Sewer Systems Supervisor from 1998 to 2003. In his role as Superintendent, Troy plans, organizes and directs the work of the entire Distribution and Collections section.
