GUC: Prepared for H1N1 Flu
October 1, 2009

Greenville Utilities knows that our customers depend on us to provide services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Before the H1N1 flu was making headlines, GUC had a Pandemic Preparedness Plan in place. It outlines measures to protect our workforce and specific courses of action GUC will take should a large number of our employees become ill. The plan reflects our commitment to do our best to provide life-sustaining services to our customers, no matter what circumstances we face. We are also part of a multi-agency team that has been working on an ongoing basis to ensure a coordinated response to the H1N1 situation in Greenville-Pitt County.

Educating our employees about the flu and how to prevent it is part of our plan, but we are also concerned about the health of our customers and visitors to our facilities. Because keeping hands clean is one of the most important steps to take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs, GUC has installed standing automatic hand sanitizing dispensers at our Main Office, 401 S. Greene Street, as well as in GUC Express on Greenville Boulevard.

These touchless dispensers provide easy access for alcohol-based quick hand disinfection. When using these stations, the hand foam product automatically dispenses into your palm. For best results, you rub your hands together, front and back, and over all skin and finger nail surfaces until they are dry.
