The staff of the Distribution and Collection section operates and maintains GUC’s water mains, water services, sanitary sewer mains and sewer services. They also construct new facilities, repair damaged facilities and maintain the system. These dedicated employees oversee nearly 1,000 miles of the distribution and collection systems.
After water leaves the Water Treatment Plant, it is delivered to customers through an extensive distribution system consisting of more than 565 miles of piping ranging from two to thirty-six inches in diameter.
All wastewater from industrial, commercial and residential customers is transported to the 17.5 mgd Wastewater Treatment Plant through more than 423 miles of collection system with some 30 pumping stations. The collection piping ranges in size from four to thirty inches.
